NFL Preview 2011: Cincinnati Bengals

2011 NFL Team Preview
Cincinnati Bengals

2010 Record: 4-12
2010 Record ATS (Against the Spread): 7-9

Outlook:

General: Is Marv Lewis still the couch here? If he is, how? His time here is well over due. They need to bring in some new fresh coaching talent and shake things up there in Cincy.  Carson Palmer threatening to retire if he is not traded is just one of the symptoms that this team is broken and they need a serious fixing.  Chad OhchoCinco (aka Chad Johnson) has departed and now plays in New England. Everything is bad here and sometimes you need to throw the baby out with the bath water.

Weaknesses:
The Bengals will definitely resume begin called their previous nickname of years past. They are the "Bungles" Or, "The Bungle in the Jungle". Do not look for the Bengals to do much of anything this year.  If they go 3-13 that will be an accomplishment.  Betting for or against them will be trick as well. They may have a few good games here and there but nothing reliable.

Betting Prognosis:  Last year they did manage to cover the spread 7 of 16 times.  They had a few flashes of brilliance early when they beat Baltimore and later in the season when they beat San Diego.  But that was only a mirage. The team was horrible and point spread makers knew it and make them the underdog 11 times out of sixteen regular season games.

When to Bet this Team:
If they pull off a win or two early in the first few games, hammer hard against them the fist two or three weeks after. They may even be favored and in that case it is money in the bank.  Pray for a few wins early and bet against them after. Trust me, you will cash in.

Key Matchups:
Week 1 at Cleveland
Week 4 vs. Buffalo
Week 6 vs. Indianapolis

These games early will be the litmus test to let you know what kind of team Cincinnati really is this year.  Adjust then bet them or against them the rest of the year based on these three games.
