2010 NFL Preview
Seattle Seahawks
2009 Record: 5-11
Head Coach: Pete Carroll
The 2009 preseason wasn’t a very good success indicator for The Seattle Seahawks. They went 4-0, only to lose 11 regular season games – one less loss than in their 2008 season when they went 4-12. The Seahawks are currently 1-1 in their preseason with a 20-18 victory over the Titans during week one and a 27-24 loss against Green Bay in week 2. They will play at Minnesota and Oakland before they begin playing the games that actually count.
Seattle is ready to see some life in their squad again. It’s already been 2 full seasons since their last taste of success. In 2007 they won ten regular season games and beat Washington in the porstseason before going down at Green Bay. NEWS FLASH FOR SEAHAWKS FANS (if you didn’t already know): Your new coach – You know, the guy who traveled some 1200 miles North from USC? – might be just what you need to get your team back on track. Pete Carroll, who left before things got too bad in Southern Cal, goes Pro again.
Despite the results of the investigation (near the end of his time at USC) surrounding improper benefits given to Reggie Bush, Carroll proved he knows how to revitalize a program and win some games. Sure, pro ball is a different game, but Pete comes back to the NFL with even more coaching experience, and the energy the Seahawks need to get back on track.
QB Matt Hasselbeck and the Seahawks begin their regular season at home against San Francisco on Sunday, September 12th. Can Hasselbeck manage to stay uninjured and on the field this year? They’ll need him healthy to ensure a good start to the rebuilding process.
