Detroit Lions – 2009 Season Preview
2009 Record: 2-14
Current Head Coach: Jim Schwartz
Even with only 2 wins last season, the Detroit Lions showed some improvement. After all, their two wins were two more than they had the year before when they became the first NFL team to go 0-16. Still, they finished 4th in the NFC North. Their two 2009 victories came at home last year against the Redskins (19-14) and the Browns (38-37).
The pressure will be on Head Coach Jim Schwartz in his second year at Detroit. With some valuable additions to the team, he’ll have to work with than he did last year. The offense should see improvement with Matthew Stafford entering his second year as QB. The defense, who was ranked last in points and yards allowed last year, should also see noticeable improvement with the draft pick of DT Ndamukong Suh from Nebraska.
The Detroit Lions start off their preseason at Pittsburgh on August 14th. They then play Denver, Cleveland, and Buffalo before starting their regular season at Chicago on September 12th.
