NFL Playoff Preview and Pick
Seattle vs. Chicago
Saturday January 16, 2010
1:00 PM ET on Fox
Get ready for an interesting NFL playoff matchup this Sunday. The Seahawks take on the Bears just one week after they shocked New Orleans in a wildcard matchup. Seattle beat the Saints as 11 point underdogs and as the only team with a losing record to reach the playoffs. Chicago is favored by 10 points in this matchup. The total is listed at 42.5. They kick off on Sunday at 1:00 PM ET on FOX. The Jets and Patriots follow with a 4:30 PM ET kick off.
An extended postseason for Seattle looks unlikely – but then again, a victory over New Orleans last week looked unlikely as well. The nation expected to see why the Seahawks did not belong in the playoffs. Instead, Seattle take down the Saints, 41-36, in a victory surprised just about everybody. This game will be even more difficult for Seattle without their strong home-field support. QB Matt Hasselbeck is completing less than 60 percent of his passes (266 of 444) with 3001 yards, 12 touchdowns, and 17 interceptions.
Chicago ended their season on a bad note with a 10-3 loss at Green Bay. They won 7 out of their last 9 games. At home, the Bears have been on and off this season. One of their home losses this year included a 23-20 fall to Seattle in mid October. QB Jay Cutler is completing just over 60 percent of his passes (261 of 432) with 3,274 yards, 23 touchdowns, and 16 interceptions.
