NY JETS vs. Pittsburgh Steelers

The Super Bowl is almost here – and the stakes are the highest they have been all season. The NY JETS (11-5 in the regular season) travel to Pittsburgh to take on the Steelers (12-4 in the regular season) to decide one of the Super Bowl Contenders. With Green Bay and Chicago playing earlier on Sunday, both teams will know their potential future opponent. The Steelers are favored by 3.5 points. The total is listed at 39. These two teams played each other late in the regular season. The Steelers lost to the Jets, 22-17.
The Jets enter their third postseason game. They beat Indianapolis, 17-16 and New England 28,21 to find themselves in this spot once again. After a disappointing postseason loss at Indianapolis last year, it’s Super Bowl or BUST for the New York Jets. With a 27th QB ranking (out of 31) it’s clear to see the struggles that young QB Mark Sanchez has had this season. He has completed just over 54 percent of his passes (278 of 508) for 3,291 yards, 17 TDs and 13 interceptions. His numbers are proof that it takes more than a QB to find yourself a single game away from the Super Bowl.
The Steelers extended their postseason with a 31-24 win over Baltimore. In 2009 the Steelers played tough but also dealt with some tough disappointments. They lost 7 games – 2 of them in overtime and another 3 of them by only three points. They “got it done” in 2010 and are right where they wanted to be. A win won’t be easy, and Ben Roethlisberger knows it. He’s watched the Jets’ defense beat Tom Brady and Peyton Manning. Roethlisberger has completed nearly 62 percent of his passes (240 of 389) for 3,200 yards, 17 touchdowns, and only 5 interceptions.
