Minnesota Vikings – 2009 Preview
2008 Record: 10-6
Head Coach: Brad Childress
In 2006 the Minnesota Vikings went 10-6 and got the third seed in the NFC. They lost to the Eagles in their first playoff game. The final score was 26-14. Things are looking even better for the Vikings in 2009. No quarterback controversy this year. It’s Brett Favre.
This year it’s looking like the formula is in place for the Vikings to be legitimate Super Bowl contenders. They’ve got all the ingredients they need: Brett Favre behind center, Adrian Peterson (one of five players to ever reach 3000 yards in 2 seasons), newcomer Phil Loadholt (6’8”, 343-pound right tackle), and Special Teams kicker Ryan Longwell (who has made 51 of 52 kicks within 45 yards throughout his Viking Career).
The Vikings are so far undefeated in the preseason. They beat Indianapolis 13-3, Kansas City 17-13, and Houston 17-10. They play Dallas at home on Friday, September 4th at 8:00PM ET. They then play at Cleveland to begin their regular season on Sunday, September 13th at 1:00 PM ET.
