Baltimore Ravens – 2009 Preview
2008 Record: 11-5
Head Coach: John Harbaugh
After a good 2008 season (with rookies at Head Coach and the Quarterback position), it will be interesting to see how well the Ravens do in 2009. Will they be able to repeat their success? Some off season moves, and a change in the defensive coordinator coaching position, should prove to be very challenging. Former defensive coordinator, Rex Ryan (now the new Head Coach for the New York Jets) was replaced by Greg Mattison.
Although Greg Mattison has 35 years of coaching experience, only two of it has been in the NFL. When Rex Ryan left he took other key players with him, including Linebacker Bart Scott. We’ll likely see the defense struggle as they attempt to make some major adjustments in 2009.
Still, the Baltimore Ravens have a bright future ahead. Last year Head Coach John Harbaugh proved himself worthy of coaching in the National Football League. With his leadership, and continued poise from QB Joe Flacco, we can expect to see another competitive Baltimore Ravens team in the 2009 NFL season.
The Baltimore Ravens start off their preseason vs. Washington at home on Thursday, August 13th at 7:30 PM ET. They then play against the New York Jets at home on August 24th, at Carolina on August 29th, and at Atlanta on September 3rd.
