Detroit Lions – 2009 Preview
2008 Record: 0-16
Head Coach: Jim Schwartz
The Detroit Lions role last year: Make the Kansas City Chiefs and St. Louis Rams feel ok about going
2-14. Ouch! In 2008 the Lions became the first team in the NFL to finish 0-16. All sarcasm aside, the Lions fans have reason to assume that 2009 season will be better than the last. After all, it can’t get any worse. They have a new head coach (Jim Schwartz), and a having the number one draft pick in the NFL, they also have Matt Stafford (Georgia’s star QB) taking snaps.
The 2009 Lions’ season will truly be a rebuilding season (from the ground up) that will no doubt result in better results than were seen during the 2008 season. It’s not a stretch to say that the Lions will win at least 4 more games (maybe 5 more games) than they did last year. For any team, that’s an accomplishment. Any further speculation would be a waste of time.
Although only a preseason victory, the Detroit lions ended their losing streak when they beat Atlanta at home on Saturday, August 15th. The final score was 27-26. They will be playing at Cleveland on Saturday, August 22nd, 7:30PM ET. They then play Indianapolis at home on August 29th, and at Buffalo on September 3rd – ten days before their regular season begins.
