NFL Buffalo Bills Team Preview 2009

Buffalo Bills – 2009 Preview

2008 Record:  7-9
Head Coach: Dick Jauron

With the addition of Terrell Owens, the Buffalo Bills should be interesting to watch this year.   Not only is he expected to be a good fit for the wide receiver position, but he’s already been a good fit for business.    Season ticket sales have been explosive, the hype has been huge, and fans are anxious to see what 2009 might bring.  If nothing else, T.O. is bringing an energetic buzz back to a team that has struggled to rise above mediocrity for nearly a decade.

Offense:
On the field, offensively at least, there remains some uncertainty.  Will having a deep threat like Owens open up the field?  He might be the difference maker that Quarterback Trent Edwards needs to really thrive.  Will Lee Evans have an equal share of time with the ball?  Or will this become a one-man gig?  If we see the two get along, there’s potential for a much more explosive offense than we’ve seen recently.  Dominic Rhodes from the Colts might also help out the running game.  Assuming that player chemistry works itself out and that the offensive line isn’t too flimsy (considering recent line changes), we’ll see a faster paced, more productive offense on the field.

Defense:
Defensively, we shouldn’t see any major changes except for the first round selection of defensive end Aaron Maybin.

Prediction:
We’ll see a slightly better record than last year, but not good enough for the playoffs at 8-8.  Good enough for Coach Dick Jauron to keep his job? We’ll see.

Odds that the Bills win the 2010 Super Bowl are 30-1 (according to Sportbook.com)
