NFL Chicago Bears Team Preview 2009

Chicago Bears – 2009 Preview

2008 Record: 9-7

Head Coach:  Lovie Smith

We could probably narrow down the Chicago Bear’s 2009 season preview to two words: Jay Cutler.  For entertainment’s sake, I’ll go on.  The disgruntled Pro Bowl Quarterback wound up in Chicago after a sour, drama-filled ending with the Broncos.  Will having a fresh-start franchise quarterback make the difference the Bears need to see postseason success?

With a relatively solid defense, a few good draft picks, and Jay Cutler behind center, the Bears might be getting close to where they want to be in the long run.  Don’t expect major changes this year, as the Bears still have adjustments to make and are still minus big-play-making wide receivers.  They will need to start off the season strong to improve upon their 9-7 2008 record.

Chicago started their preseason with a loss at Buffalo on August 15th.  The final score was 20-27.  The Bears will play the Giants at home on Saturday, August 22nd, 8PM ET.  They then play at Denver on August 30th, and against Cleveland at home on September 3rd – ten days before their regular season begins.

Regular Season Schedule:
1 Sunday, September 13 @ Green Bay 8:20 PM
2 Sunday, September 20 vs. Pittsburgh 4:15 PM
3 Sunday, September 27 @ Seattle 4:05 PM
4 Sunday, October 4 vs. Detroit 1:00 PM
5 BYE
6 Sunday, October 18 @ Atlanta 8:20 PM
7 Sunday, October 25 @ Cincinnati 1:00 PM
8 Sunday, November 1 vs. Cleveland 1:00 PM
9 Sunday, November 8 vs. Arizona 1:00 PM
10 Thursday, November 12 @ San Francisco 8:20 PM
11 Sunday, November 22 vs. Philadelphia 8:20 PM
12 Sunday, November 29 @ Minnesota 1:00 PM
13 Sunday, December 6 vs. St. Louis 1:00 PM
14 Sunday, December 13 vs. Green Bay 1:00 PM
15 Sunday, December 20 @ Baltimore 1:00 PM
16 Monday, December 28 vs. Minnesota 8:30 PM
17 Sunday, January 3 @ Detroit 1:00 PM

Prediction: With some defensive adjustments and a smooth transition to the new Cutler-led offense, the Bears should see 1 or 2 more wins than they did in 2008.

Record: 10-6

Odds that the Chicago Bears win the Super Bowl in 2010 are 16-1 (according to Sportsbetting.com)
