Chick-Fil-A Bowl: Tennessee Volunteers vs. Virginia Tech Hokies
December 31, 2009

The Hokies of Virginia Tech meet the Volunteers of Tennessee at the Georgia Dome for the Chick-Fil-A Bowl.  The lines makers currently have Va. Tech favored by 6 points and the total at 49.  The betting action at our favorite sportsbooks is about even on VT and Tenn. But the under is being bet heavy at about 75% clip.

Tennessee comes in at 7-5 and Virginia Tech comes in at 9-3.  In their last game, Tennessee beat the Kentucky Wildcats 30-24. Virginia Tech crushed Al Groh's University of Virginia  team 42-13.  Both teams have a winning record against the spread and are 7-5 ATS.

We think VT is the superior team and even though some have dubbed them the "chokies" because of their losses in big games, we still like Frank Beamer's squad.  The fact is that the coaching is superior and the athletes are superior for the Hokies team. We also like the over to go and try to get it at 48.5 or lower.  Look for Beamer's team to live up to the special teams reputation they have earned the last 15-20 years and maybe get a block or special teams TD.
