Big 12 Championship 2009

Saturday Night - Cowboys Stadium

The Texas Longhorns will take on rival Nebraska Cornhuskers to see who wins the Big 12 Championship.  Texas enters this game 12-0 straight up and ranked #3 in the nation. Nebraska hasn't been too shabby this season either. The Huskers come into the game 9-3 SU and ranked #22 overall.  Something's got to give on this Saturday nationally televised game.

Last week, Colt McCoy and the Longhorns sqeeked off a close one against Texas A&M, winning by only ten points.  McCoy threw for four TD's and ran for another in this game.  He completed 24 of 40 passes for 302 yards.  In their game, Nebraska lead by 14 at half time and lead comfortably the whole game and gave up a chump touchdown on the last play of the game to let Colorado cover the 13 point spread.

But this match up will come down to defense. Nebraska is ranked top 5 in every major category this season and has kept the team in almost every game.  In their three losses, two of them were by only two points or less.  What you can count on is Texas playing a more grinding type game looking for ball control and short yardage gains. Then, they will adjust at half time and start airing it out.  Nebraska's offense is more of a "hodge-podge" of plays and has no real identity at this point.  Last week, as a matter of fact, they installed an option offense that didn't fair well at all against Colorado. Look for the Huskers to come out and try short passes, long passes, and option runs right away.

We like Nebraska to cover the 14.5 points spread and the Over to hit above 47 points.
