Odds to Win It All
NCAA Basketball Tournament 2010
If you're in love with any of the number one or two seeds in the tourney and wanna bet them, forget it, right? They just don't pay well enough. The number ones and twos have won basically almost every tourney the last twenty years, with the exception of a number three seed. The oddsmakers know this and they have made their odds accordingly. This is the year to bet an underseed in my opinion. I mean imagine this, you put put $100 on Wofford for fun and they win the championship and you can now pay off your house. Or, you put $100 on Robert Morris to win it all and when they do, that new Porsche you always wanted is now yours. Well it has never happened and that's why the odds are so sweet for the underdogs.
But one of these years it will happen. One of these years an Oakland or LeHigh will actually win the whole thing. But who has a 100 bucks that you can basically just flush down the toilet these days? Even if you are wealthy, $100 is still a very nice sushi dinner with your wife or mistress. Why waste it on Wofford?
Well, below are the odds for the teams to win it all. Some fair payouts with decent chances are right in the middle. Picking a big conference team that pays well is always a good idea. Look at Clemson or Florida State right in the middle paying out +10000. Realistically, these teams can beat anybody on a good day. The oddmakers agree with that statement. But they know that utting together three huge upsets in a row is almost impossible. Almost.
