#2 Kansas Jayhawks (28-2, 14-1 Big 12) at Missouri Tigers (22-8, 10-5 Big 12) Mizzou Arena, Columbia, MO 2 PM 3/6
Kansas and Missouri both finish off their regular season schedules and prepare for the Big 12 tournament in this game. Missouri hosts senior day and looks for revenge against the Jayhawks. Kansas meanwhile looks to prove that they are the best team in the country, despite a recent loss.
After demolishing Colorado three games ago, Missouri has had a rough couple of games. First, a loss to #5 Kansas State by ten, then a nail-biting two-point win over cellar-dweller Iowa State. Despite the recent struggles, Missouri should be a lock for the NCAA tournament. With ten conference wins in the Big 12, one of the country’s best conferences, and quality wins over Kansas State (in their first match-up) and #25 Texas, the Tigers shouldn’t be too concerned with their fate. A win over #2 Kansas though, would make their at-large bid a sure thing. Sophomore Kim English leads the team with 14.1 points per game.
The Jayhawks locked up sole possession of the Big 12 regular season championship with a win over Kansas State. Despite the 17 point win over the Wildcats, the game was close until the end. Kansas State was able to keep the game close until midway through the second half. This game came after Kansas lost its second game of the season, and lost the top ranking in the country. This game against Missouri will go a long way toward proving that they will continue to be a force deep into the Big 12 and NCAA tournament. The only question for them right now, is if they will have the top overall seed in the NCAA tournament. Sherron Collins and his 15.3 points per game will try to make sure that happens.
This is the second game of the season between these two teams. The Jayhawks won in a lopsided 19 point win on January 25 at home. Cole Aldrich led the way for Kansas with 12 points and 16 rebounds. Kansas has only lost two games all year, and both have been on the road. Missouri has been nearly perfect at home with just one loss all year.
Kansas is currently favored by 3 points. The total is listed at 146.
