One team is just 4 wins away from a Championship. The Dallas Mavericks travel to Miami Tuesday night to start game one for a chance to get back what they let slip away in 2006. In the 2006 finals, Dallas took an early 2-0 lead in the series against Miami. With a 13 point lead late in game three, it looked like the series might only see 4 games. Instead, the Heat rallied for a win and took the next three games for the title. Just five years later, memories are fresh but so are many of the faces. Jason Terri and Dirk Nowitzki are the only remaining Dallas players. Udonis Haslem and Wade are the only left on the Miami side.
Miami find themselves in this spot by beating the 76ers 4-1, The Lakers 4-0, and the Chicago 4-1. As could be expected in the final series of the year, this will be the toughest series they’ve seen yet. They’ll gladly take the home-court advantage in game 1.
The Championship hungry Dallas Mavericks earned another shot at Miami by beating the Trailblazers 4-2, the Lakers 4-0, and the Thunder 4-1. The Mavericks play some excellent defense and have a strong inside game. Those factors, combined with a strong bench, might give Dallas the edge they need in this series.
