Portland Trailblazers (33-26) at Chicago Bulls (29-27) United Center, Chicago, IL 2/26/10, 8 PM
The trade deadline suggested the Bulls would be big players in free agency, but some focus on the offseason hasn't taken their attention away from the task at hand. The Trailblazers, meanwhile, are faced with the difficulty of playing in the Western Conference. Despite being seven games over .500 they are playing for their playoff lives. The Bulls on the other hand are more solidly in the playoff picture with the sixth seed, even though they are only two games over .500.
This game is in the middle of a home and home two game series with the Pacers for the Bulls. It is the first of back-to-back games as well. Chicago will need leading scorer (19.9 ppg) and first time All Star Derrick Rose to continue his solid play along with new additions Hakim Warrick and Flip Murray. Both are averaging over 12 points per games since joining the Bulls at the trade deadline. Chicago does suffer from an injury to Joakim Noah, averaging a double-double on the season, who has been hampered by plantar fasciitis.
The Blazers are in the middle of playing eight of ten games on the road, including five straight. Recently acquired Marcus Camby suffered an ankle injury in their game against the Nets, but Portland was able to win anyway.
Portland ran the Bulls out of the building in their only matchup this season, beating Chicago 122-98. Lamarcus Aldridge and Greg Oden each had more than 20 points and ten rebounds, and Brandon Roy contributed 18 points. The Bulls got 25 points from Luol Deng, but have since lost their second leading scorer in that game, John Salmons (22 points) who was traded to the Bucks at the trade deadline.
The Bulls have fared well at home this year, with a record of 17-9, but the Blazers have also looked good on the road, at one game over .500, with a record of 14-13.
Chicago is listed at -3.5. The total is 192.
