Friendly Reminder About "Tweeners"
Make sure to have several wagering options so that you can shop around for the best line for a particular match up. The best thing about having multiple sportsbooks is catching them in a "tweener". As most of you may know, a "tweener" is when you have two sportsbooks with different lines on the same event and the line is off by a few points between the two. You bet both ways and hope that the game lands in the middle and you win both bets. This practice is also called "middling". It's harder to find major line differences on-line these days because technology moves at lightning speed. But, it is not always about one sportsbook with their pants down. A book may be off by several points because they simply were loaded down on one side of the game and need to attract opposite action.
Winning one of these "tweener" bets is very rare, but when you do there is no better feeling. Most times than not you lose one of the bets and win the other and just the juice is lost. For some people that is even too much of a risk, that is, risking 10% to have a very outside shot at making money.
Sportsbooks who lay off action at other sportsbooks love to do so when there is a much better line or cheaper price than the one they have been offering. But most sportsbooks who have a layoff relationship usually try their best to match up odds throughout the betting day.
Remember, this season to use your noggin when wagering on these games. Play the right games for the right reasons and you can have a very profitable year. And if you get a chance to play a very good tweener, why not?
